Visualizing

Visualizing tasks have become a solid part of automation engineering. When steering, regulating and supervising is performed, the visualizing is always the interface to the user. Clear representation of the function process lightens the usability, servicing and error searching and that way decreases the operating costs and increases the availability of the plant.

Designing the screenpage
The integrated visualization gives you the opportunity to lay out screens clearly and explicitly. For every drawing element (e.g. graphics, text, etc.) you can use the following options:
· define an active or inactive appearance (color, font, etc.)
· determining individual conditions for active/inactive or blinking state
· assigning a click function (button, switch)
· dynamic enlargement and movement depending on variables
· visible/invisible

Screen masks
The visualization system facilitates the creation of any number of screen masks. You define one of them as startup-screen, which will be loaded at the start of the system.

Other screens can be loaded by buttons or program instructions. You can use this for example to switch to a special screen when a failure appears.

Screen masks for the easy operating
On the layers you can place drawing elements (diagrams, bitmaps, input fields, text fields, buttons, lines, etc). Every element possesses attributes like position, size, visibility, frame, color, blinking (yes/no), value for movement, zoom factor, button funtion, etc. The user can operate the facility with the screens. On them the important information is shown and only the necessary actions are served. Critical data can be hidden or disabled.

Layers/Foil

Every screen can contain several foils which are located on top of each other. For example background foil, machine foil, sensor- and actuator foil, labelling foil and the service foil.

Drawing elements

The drawing elements lie on the foil. There are several types of them like: lines and squares, rectangles, text fields, input fields and output fields, buttons, bitmaps and diagrams.

Operating elements

Buttons can take effect as switches, push buttons, set or reset functions directly or on variables and inputs. On the screen you can use edit fields for text, numbers or date.

Furthermore buttons or function keys can be used. So for many functions the hardware buttons on the machine can be replaced. The wiring and the inputs can be saved.

Attributes

For each drawing element, for example graphic, text, etc. on the screen page special properties can be assigned. This attributes determine the position, size, color, visibility, blinking, moving value (dynamic moving and enlarging dependent on a variable), extension value, frame, button function, etc.

Access on process values

Edit fields make the process data for the user more easily accessible. Input fields will be tested on min - max values, output values if desired. Each input function can be assigned with the password system. Every change can be written into a protocol, if this option is selected.

Multilingual service element
For all required language a data set will be created. Switching through the data sets, the language of the text can be changed - for example english for the initial operator and spanish for the operating staff. And this is possible at every moment the machine runs.

Touchscreen

Touchscreen support is implemented. Using this mode a machine- or number keyboard - depending on the type of the variable - is displayed on screen. No conventional keyboard is needed.

Failure indication

Optical indication of failures and automatically generated actions (e.g. stopping a motor, activating a hooter) keep an installation safe. You can react quickly to failures.

Password system
Critical data can be hidden or blocked for change. Sequences are displayed clearly. All input functions can be blocked by the password system.

Protocol entries

Important events or interesting data are put into a protocol, so you can reconstruct sequences or changes later on.

Support when searching for errors

When an error occurs you can show the physical location of the defective part or show an extract of the circuit diagram on the screen. This is an important facilitation when searching for errors.

Operate
On the screen you can use edit fields for text, numbers or date. Furthermore buttons or function keys can be used. So for many functions the hardware buttons on the machine, the wiring and the inputs can be saved.

Graphical positioning
In reality it frequently occurs, that processes have to be optimized empirically, either to reach the highest possible frequency cycle or to react concerning changes in properties of handled materials. In such cases it's often necessary to adapt the process. If circuitous many numbers must be entered, that´s very different for the user.

Here you can take advantage of an important feature of MPC-Solution: The graphical optimization of positioning diagrams.
The user can mark one point of the diagram on the screen and move it using the mouse. The changed values take effect when running the cycle the next time. That way even less qualified operators can optimize positioning diagrams (only if the system security allows him to do so).
Another chance to optimize processes is to switch outputs graphically depending on way curves.
For this case we offer digital diagrams.

A process takes a specific time. To make it faster or slower the total time must be changed. If the time to pass through the process is changed because of any optimization, all time points for switching are adapted. This is a very easy way to perfect complex sequences rapidly.

Including these features MPC-Solution is the ideal control software to optimize processes in an easy, quick and comfortable way.

Symbol library
MPC-Solution contains a bitmap library (for hydraulic, pneumatic, electronics and general components).

MPC-Visu as inexpensive stand-alone packet

The visualization part of MPC Solution can be used also as pure visualization system e.g. with a Hard-PLC supporting Profibus DP, Tcp/Ip or other interface. This represents a very favorable and nevertheless efficient alternative.

Required soft- and hardware components:

- Computer system
- OEM-License MPC-VISU (MPC-Solution)
- Profibus-interface
- Profibus-wire
- Profibus supporting Hard-PLC
